CC720 Torque Head

A Modular torque head available in different versions to suit the application of the user.
The torque heads can be provided with electric or pneumatic motors, and supplied with
full Atex Certification for use in hazardous areas.
Change part gripping jaws are supplied to suit each cap size, and rubber-lined to
give excellent grip and avoid damage to the product.

At the heart of every Cap Coder Capping Machine is the CC720 Torque Head.
Since its introduction, over 25 years ago, the CC720 has undergone several changes,
but the fundamental method of the gripping jaw technology has remained the same.

In its latest version, the MK VI, it has evolved into a high specification torque head.
All of the components are fully machined to precise tolerances to achieve the aim of accurate
and consistent torque values now required in modern machines and working environments.

Cap Coder can supply the CC720 in various formats, either incorporated in one of its range of machines,
or by itself for the customer to install into their own equipment.

In general, the torque heads can cater for various styles of screw caps, from Ø10mm to Ø120mm,
and have the capability to handle most types of caps available, including; child resistant,
tamper evident, pump-action spouted, jerry-can ribbed caps and even trigger-spray caps.

As mentioned, the units themselves are available in different formats, with each format
available in different variations to suit the customer's needs and requirements,
(for full details, see the Technical Specifications Sheets).

The four most popular formats are:

Capping Machine

CC720 Standard Basic Torque Head
This torque head is also known as the 'No Rise and fall' version.
This consists of a driven rotor with gripping jaws and mounting holes to allow customers to incorporate into their own machine and control the rise and fall of the torque head.

Capping Machine

CC720 2 Position Torque Head
This is similar to the basic unit above, but incorporates a 'rise and fall' cylinder to move the head up and down.
This application is most suitable for simple cap tightening operations, where the cap has already been placed and pre-started.

Capping Machine

CC720 3 Position Torque Head
With this application, two cylinders are used in tandem, with the torque head descending to a mid-position to pick a cap up, return to the start position, and finally descend the full stroke length to screw the cap onto the container.

Capping Machine

CC720 Rotary Twin Torque Head
In this application two torque heads are mounted either side of a rotary actuator. They function so that whilst one head is screwing a cap on, the other is picking a cap up, before swinging through 180° to repeat the process.

Capping Machine

CC720 Torque Head with Torque Transducer
This torque head is fitted with a Sensor Technology torque transducer.
The 'Torqsense' transducer acurately measures the torque applied to the cap on the bottle, and will supply digital and analog data which will give proof of performance, consistency and batch tracability during the capping operation.

Cap Coder is willing to work with its customers to supply the unit most suitable for their application,
and can provide additional items where applicable.
This may include Orientation heads for trigger spray applications or the inclusion of a transducer, for measuring torque values.
If required, separate control modules, (both PLC and pneumatic logic), can also be included.
Advice and assistance can also be supplied with the integration to the main operating system of the machine.

The torque heads are all CE marked and supplied with Certificates of Incorporation and where necessary,
all pneumatic versions can be supplied, suitable for use in Zone 1 and Zone 2, Atex Environments.
